Pravas at Solar & Storage Exhibition NEC 2024

Solar Recycling Plant Worcester

Pravas Sustainable Technologies Ltd attended the Solar & Storage Exhibition at NEC Birmingham, most open-minded and exciting renewable energy exhibition of the year. The event attracted a large national and international audience from installers, commercial and industrial users, property and land owners, and utility companies with over 500 exhibitors and over 150 000 visitors. Visitors had the opportunity to listen over 250 speakers developing on solar and storage case studies and product demonstrations from manufacturers, installers, property owners, and landowners. The free-to-attend networking events offered the opportunity to connect with thousands of industry leaders, experts, and enthusiasts for exchanging insights, building valuable connections, and partnering with the industry’s top figures. This was a great experience for Pravas Sustainable Technologies Ltd, which offered a new view on the solar industry technological progression and efficient solar panels recycling solutions.

Our Solar Panels Recycling Facility

proper disposal of solar panels

We can proudly announce that Pravas Sustainable Technologies Ltd has started its Worcester Solar Panels Recycling Facility. Our recycling equipment allows for the recovery of an astonishing 95% of the raw materials which can be reused by other industries to manufacture new products.
The Recycling Process
The recycling process of solar panels involves several steps:
1. Collection: Panels are collected from different sources like decommissioned solar farms, industrial sites or residential facilities.
2. Disassembly: The aluminium frames and junction boxes are removed by the frame removal machine.
3. Thermal Processing: In the next step the solar panels are heated to facilitate the removal of the glass, silicon, and other materials.
4. Mechanical Separation: After the heating, the panel is going through the glass crasher where the glass is mechanically separated. The glass can be recycled for use in new panels or other products. After the glass is removed, the panels are shredded into small particles and go into several types of materials separators like screen separator, air separator and electrostatic separator where such materials like silicon, copper and plastic are separated.
5. Chemical Processing: For certain materials, particularly silicon and silver, further chemical processing may be required to refine the material to a purity level suitable for reuse in new solar cells .

In the UK there were limited large-scale solar panels recycling facilities necessary to handle the expected increase in end-of-life panels. As a result, most of the out of service solar panels have been sent for recycling work to other European countries. The lack of solar panels recycling infrastructure in the UK resulted in only 10% of solar panels being recycled with the rest being disposed of in landfills.

After starting our recycling facility, we hope to facilitate the solar panels recycling process in the UK and close the gap in the necessary recycling infrastructure.
As solar energy grows, the importance of recycling solar panels grows to ensure eco-friendly solar energy practices that minimise solar panel waste. We offer bespoke solar panels recycling solutions to ensure the solar energy industry is moving towards a more sustainable approach, where old panels are not just discarded but turned into resources for new ones.

New Pattnership with UKSOL Ltd

Pravas Sustainable Technologies is delighted to announce that we established a collaboration partnership with UKSOL Ltd, an award winning British solar PV module brand established in 2015.

Adhering to a strict ethical procurement policy, committed to British corporate and consumer law, unlike overseas suppliers, UKSOL offers a comprehensive, trustworthy, 30-year British warranty to all their solar panels incorporating the lates solar cell technology – P-Type, N-Type, poly, mono, half-cell, and bifacial solar modules. Our partners, UKSOL has the Export Champion status with the British Government as they ship modules to over 50 countries.

We are pleased to work together on sustainably recycling the of out of life solar panels with a recovery rate of 95% of the raw materials. Pravas Sustainable Technologies and UKSOL are committed to a circular economy, making the recovered materials available for re-use, contributing substantially to the reduction of carbon emission

Pravas Sustainable Technologies is inviting all the professionals across the renewable solar energy sector, industry leaders, policymakers, and advocates, to work together on progressing the solar energy industry to the next step, a sustainable and safe solar panel recycling collaboration to tackle arising challenges and foster innovation.
