ABOUT US

Pravas Sustainable Technologies offers bespoke recycling solutions for decommissioned PV solar panels through the UK.

Pravas Sustainable Technologies offers bespoke recycling solutions for decommissioned PV solar panels throughout the UK. Our mission is to bridge the gap between renewable energy generation and responsible end-of-life management.

Using proprietary recycling technology, our team ensures maximum material recovery—including silicon, glass, aluminium, and rare metals—whilst strictly minimising environmental impact. By transforming decommissioned solar panels into high-quality reusable raw materials, we help manufacturers reduce waste, lower production costs, and meet stringent sustainability regulations.

Our approach includes:

1) Industry-Leading Recovery Rates

We recover up to 95% of materials from end-of-life solar panels, ensuring that waste is kept to an absolute minimum.

2) Eco-Friendly Processing

Our bespoke methods exclude the use of hazardous chemicals and ensure significantly lower carbon emissions compared to traditional recycling.

3) A Closed-Loop Supply Chain

Recovered materials are reintegrated into new production lines, supporting a true circular economy.

These innovations position Pravas as a key partner in helping the solar industry achieve its environmental goals while proactively addressing the impending wave of solar panel waste across the British Isles.

The Pravas Advantage: A Sustainable Approach to Solar Recycling
Unlike conventional recycling methods that often rely on energy-intensive processes, Pravas Sustainable Technologies employs advanced, low-carbon techniques to maximise efficiency and sustainability.

Our factory is located in Worcester, providing excellent logistical connectivity with all parts of the country and allowing us to minimise transport emissions while serving clients nationwide. Solar panels can last for up to 40 years and play a key role in reducing our carbon footprint; however, as solar installations increase, so does the concern regarding their sustainable disposal.

Under the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) regulations, all solar panel manufacturers and installers must be part of a producer compliance scheme to ensure all out-of-service panels are safely and sustainably managed.

We simplify this regulatory burden for you. At our facility, we work towards the recovery of the majority of a panel’s components—including aluminium, glass, silicon, copper, and plastic—which can then be repurposed for industrial reuse.

Our vision is to play a significant role in driving down the initial carbon footprint of renewable products. By reusing old materials instead of mining for new ones, we ensure the green energy transition is truly circular. By choosing recovery over landfill, you help protect the very environment your technology was designed to save.

Ready to ensure your solar project stays green from start to finish? Partner with our Worcester facility for industry-leading, WEEE-compliant recycling. Contact us today to arrange a sustainable disposal solution for your out-of-service panels.

Sustainable Future

Solar panel recycling plays a significant role in creating a sustainable future as it protects the environment and recovers valuable materials for reuse. By recycling the out of service solar panels we prevent any potentially dangerous substances from entering landfills and polluting our soils and waters. Solar panels are defined as electrical waste in the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Directive, thus their disposal must be delivered strictly according to the regulation. Our Recycling facility was issued all the necessary permits from Environmental Agency and is equipped with the most advanced equipment which is able to recover an astonishing 95% of the materials from the solar panels.

Our Solar Panels Recycling Facility

We can proudly announce that Pravas Sustainable Technologies Ltd has started its Worcester Solar Panels Recycling Facility. Our recycling equipment allows for the recovery of an astonishing 95% of the raw materials which can be reused by other industries to manufacture new products.
The Recycling Process
The recycling process of solar panels involves several steps:
1. Collection: Panels are collected from different sources like decommissioned solar farms, industrial sites or residential facilities.
2. Disassembly: The aluminium frames and junction boxes are removed by the frame removal machine.
3. Thermal Processing: In the next step the solar panels are heated to facilitate the removal of the glass, silicon, and other materials.
4. Mechanical Separation: After the heating, the panel is going through the glass crasher where the glass is mechanically separated. The glass can be recycled for use in new panels or other products. After the glass is removed, the panels are shredded into small particles and go into several types of materials separators like screen separator, air separator and electrostatic separator where such materials like silicon, copper and plastic are separated.
5. Chemical Processing: For certain materials, particularly silicon and silver, further chemical processing may be required to refine the material to a purity level suitable for reuse in new solar cells .

In the UK there were limited large-scale solar panels recycling facilities necessary to handle the expected increase in end-of-life panels. As a result, most of the out of service solar panels have been sent for recycling work to other European countries. The lack of solar panels recycling infrastructure in the UK resulted in only 10% of solar panels being recycled with the rest being disposed of in landfills.

After starting our recycling facility, we hope to facilitate the solar panels recycling process in the UK and close the gap in the necessary recycling infrastructure.
As solar energy grows, the importance of recycling solar panels grows to ensure eco-friendly solar energy practices that minimise solar panel waste. We offer bespoke solar panels recycling solutions to ensure the solar energy industry is moving towards a more sustainable approach, where old panels are not just discarded but turned into resources for new ones.
